Part of my coursework leading up to my film was to create a preliminary task.
This preliminary task was specified as follows:

Students are required to do a continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.

Our plan as a class was to create a preliminary task together, where we take turns to film and direct camera shots which would then improve our familiarity with the camera. Then we would edit it in groups.
After this we all decided to do one separately, planning our own task. 

I decided that before this I would practice camera work and go out and film; practicing different techniques and shots.
