Editing Techniques in Media from aaliyxh

Here are some editing techniques used in media.

Summary:


  • Continuity editing: where shots flow smoothly, no abrupt cuts or shots as all shots  are continuous.
  • Shot size: this includes extreme close-ups, close-ups, medium shots, long shots and extreme long shots.
  • Match on action: this is where two shots from different angles are brought on.
  • Shot Reverse/Shot: where two shots are brought together from different angles, e.g when two people engage in dialogue.
  • Match cut: where two objects of the same size are brought together, e.g through a graphic match.
  • Cross Cutting: editing shots in different locations together.
  • Eyeline Match: where the camera angle is from the eye line of a character.
